New years are always times of change, reflection and focus for the next year. And, while I will be doing all that crap in my real life - boring! I will also am changing the the focus of this blog.
I will take my readers (do I have readers?) with me as I research SEX HISTORY!
So to begin...
In January I am going on a cruise (hoorah!) and several ships had/have topless decks for sunbathing. That of course got me thinking about the history, whys and wherefores of the topless deck.
Well, so far I haven't found any answers to the history. But I have a theory: the European shipbuilding industry and officers lend an European flavor to the ships' environment and sunbathing topless is no big deal in Europe. And, therefore no big deal to include an area for it on the ship. It is also a fact that a ship is usually found in international waters and therefore subject to entirely different laws.
But, from the chatter on the web from cruisers - it seems that the topless decks are disappearing. The decks are disappearing in favor of the space being used for different attractions (example waterparks) on board.
But, I will keep my eyes out for the history of the topless deck...
